Join me on Whidbey Island for a hands-on photography workshop that celebrates the art of seeing details often overlooked. While there will be opportunities for a wide variety of photography, I feel this diverse landscape lends itself best for close-up macro finds, small scenes, minimalism, and creative abstracts. There is plenty of wildlife, including birds, across the island that we are sure to encounter along the way. Even though most of the time will be spent photographing the natural landscape, expect a stop or two where we can interpret what nature and time do to human-made structures. These can provide fascinating abstracts.
We’ll explore techniques that sharpen your eye and expand your artistic vision. This course includes both guided field sessions and class time, ranging from group image reviews to engaging presentations, including a processing demonstration. If you are interested in looking beyond grand vistas and discovering new ways to tell visual stories with photography, this session will be for you. Come with us as we explore pebble beaches, piles of driftwood, rocky tide pools, and much more that the island has to offer.
Instructor Bio: Adrian is fortunate to call the scenic and photogenic Pacific Northwest home. Born and raised in Oregon, he lives within 100 miles of the ocean, countless waterfalls, mountainous wilderness, and the high desert. His love of nature has nurtured his love of photography. He enjoys the experience as a photographer, building connections with the places he visits, which has resulted in creating work that is meaningful to him. One of his great joys in photography is leading workshops and tours for other photographers to experience locations and grow in their art. Beyond his individual photography business, he is the founding member of the Photo Cascadia team with the goal to help others learn, explore, and create.
