Local artist Cassie Martin is the winner of our 40th Anniversary Poster Contest! Cassie created the winning piece using vintage colors from 40 years ago, incorporating elements that depict the different art mediums the school offers and infusing a retro yet fresh feel to the poster. We are delighted to use Cassie’s artwork to celebrate our art of turning 40 event. Cassie’s poster design has left space for us to add the words and descriptions we want. What a great partnership.

Here’s a little bit about the artist and the school! We hope you will join us this coming November for the grand celebration to include a juried art show, awards, yummy food, an epic artist’s battle, caricaturist, magician, music, and raise-the-paddle portion of the evening to raise much-needed funds. Looking into the future for the next 40 years and beyond.

About the poster artist: Born and raised in Coupeville, Cassie Martin is a lifelong maker and creative spirit. A true Islander at heart, she celebrates the people, places, and soul of the Pacific Northwest through her art, often drawing inspiration from themes of identity, inclusion, and empowerment. What began as small passion projects gradually grew as she stepped outside her comfort zone and into larger-scale digital illustrations and prints, each one a love letter to the community that inspired it. You may have seen her posters around Coupeville for this year’s Musselfest and Arts & Crafts Festival. When she’s not designing, Cassie enjoys running, practicing yoga, and sharing her love of art and creativity with her husband and their two daughters.

About the Pacific NorthWest Art School: As we turn 40 this year, we are proud to state we have been making high caliber art instruction available to our local community and those who travel from all over the United States and Canada for four decades! That’s quite an accomplishment for a mighty staff of two. We offer 60-70 workshops per year, a Plein Air Paint Out Competition and Celebration, jail art instruction, free art library, book club, art cupboard and camera club in addition to our classes. Additionally, we serve as the Administrator for the Coupeville Creative District. Come support and celebrate as for the next 40 years and beyond this November 6th! We are proud to continue with the important work our founders identified some 40 years ago.

Get your tickets early! They are $30 for patrons online and over the phone, (360) 678-3396, from now until Wednesday, November 4th. Tickets are limited and *will not* be sold at the door.
