Learn garment making in this four-day nuno felt workshop. Patti will share several surface design techniques, including the mosaic nuno felt process and how to use grids and bridges as design elements. There will be a discussion on the many things that affect shrinkage and students will learn how to create a resist pattern in any size. Students will also learn tips and tricks such as how to avoid distorted edges, troubleshooting challenges, shaping and finishing techniques.

Instructor Bio
Patti’s early fascination with fabrics and fashion came from her seamstress mother. You might say fiber art is bound into her DNA. Patti’s main focus has been creating wearable art, with the use of silk and wool and soapy water for over 15 years. In addition to nuno felt, she uses hand-dying, needle felting and bead embroidery to compliment the tactile and visual narratives of each piece of wearable art. As a graduate of Western Washington University with a degree in Studio Art and a concentration in fibers, she began thinking about skins. Her study included simulated animal skins, human skin under a microscope, skins of mythical beings and hybrid humans.
