Skill Level: Artists of all skill levels are welcome to join the adventure and experience A Sense of Place.
Join me for a 5-day, cultural and creative exploration inspired by place. Learn how to capture your experience of a specific location with a particular group of people at a unique moment in in your lives and use that as a guide, a muse, and an inspiration.
Throughout the week, we will spend time exploring the beauty that Coupeville and Whidbey Island has to offer through both indoor and outdoor field trips. We will then take this inspiration back to our studio space and explore ways to transfer this to our artwork. Our inspiration can be both literal – an object found or a brochure from a favorite site – and experiential – the breeze felt on the Coupeville Wharf or many shades of grey on the rocks by the water. The focus of our work will be mixed media, an approach that offers the freedom to go in many creative directions.
Our studio time will be divided among the following…
We will all be working on the same series of projects, but you are encouraged to take them into your own direction. Ultimately, each of your experiences will be unique and so will be your creative makes. As such the supply list includes both specific supplies and personally chosen items.
