Please join Mike Wise for three days of instruction in his beautiful home studio on Whidbey Island minutes from the town of Coupeville. Mike is known for his gorgeous lake and lily pond scenes and will teach his students methods and techniques for creating beautiful compositions containing floating water lilies, underwater logs and rocks, ripples, and reflections of sky.
Throughout this three-day workshop, students will explore how to create vivid still water lake scenes from start to finish. Mike will demonstrate how to compose a scene with reflection, depth, underwater and surface elements, movement, light and texture. Students will be taught a multi-layered approach from block-in to finish, using techniques such as glazing, dry brushing, palette knife, impasto, scumbling, and the multitude of tools to achieve a three-dimensional feel in a painting.
Join Mike in his own studio as he guides his students in creating stunning landscapes using simple techniques. Mike will teach his methods for capturing stunning water scenes with demonstration and individual instruction. See how this nationally renowned impressionist painter works, how his studio is set up, and what tools he uses daily to create his stunning work. Mike’s studio is large, airy, and inviting, with plenty of room and lighting for everybody to work comfortably.
