Join nationally renowned impressionist Mike Wise in his home studio on beautiful Whidbey Island to learn how to create luminous still life paintings from life reference. Students will use flowers and fruits from Mike’s own summer garden and the local farmers’ market to compose paintings that encapsulate the sumptuous beauty of summer with rich color, light and depth.
Throughout this three day workshop, students will explore how to create dynamic still life paintings from start to finish. Mike will lead his students through the process beginning with how to compose and build a captivating still life scene, to creating a piece layer by layer from block-in to finish, using techniques such as glazing, dry brushing, palette knife, impasto, scumbling, and a multitude of tools to achieve a three dimensional feel in a painting.
Join Mike in his own studio as he guides his students in creating stunning still life paintings using simple techniques. Mike will teach his methods for capturing stunning scenes with demonstration and individual instruction.

Limited to a maximum of twelve participants to ensure plenty of individualized instruction. Suited to both oil and acrylic.
