Windows to the Sea: Creating a Mixed Media Artist Book
Roxanne Stout, Instructor
Dates: Saturday, April 23rd – Monday, April 25th, 2022 (9am-4pm)
Gather with Roxanne Evans Stout on Whidbey Island in the Fall and create a book inspired by the landscapes and seascapes of the Pacific Northwest! Roxanne will teach you her very favorite mixed media techniques and guide you in filling page after page with textures and colors that you love that symbolize simple landscapes. You will be working on watercolor paper as our your pages, but also be glazing and mark making on deli-paper and using these colorful creations for collaging. As you begin constructing your books, you’ll give them a new dimension by cutting and tearing windows out of the pages. These portals will give a view of the next pages and making your books even more unique.
Lastly you will add embellishments, stitching and weaving to your “windows” and binding your books together with wire and a piece of driftwood for the spine. You will go home filled with inspiration and holding a beautiful, unique artist book that you love!
