Photography as Meditation
Robert Stahl, Instructor
Dates September 28-30, 2018 (9am-4pm)
Materials Fee: $0
Skill Level: Advanced beginner to Advanced
This workshop will examine how photography can be a form of meditation.
Both deal with the present moment and call for a high degree of awareness.
After a review of Zen and its connection to the arts we will see the relevance
of Eastern thought to the photographic process. As well, the workshop will
explore how learning to trust one’s ‘intuition’, directly relates to being more
creative with a camera. And by cultivating a mindful attitude of ‘inner calm’
participants will find their work strengthened and more expressive. Field
excursions in and around Coupeville will provide opportunities to nurture
‘slowness’ as an attribute of a more meditative approach to image-making.
In addition to evaluation of field trip material in class there will also be time
put aside for one for one sessions with Robert to review prints and/or digital
files brought to the workshop.
Come join us for this stimulating workshop on taking your photography to a more contemplative level.
