Required: your camera (not an iPhone please), a laptop to review your work, a working knowledge of Lightroom and at least a familiarity with Photoshop. You might find a tripod helpful but it is not a requirement.
Join Keron Psillas Oliveira as she will offer you all her knowledge of how to photograph flowers in ice, and how to develop your images to perfect your personal vision. Her beautifully textured and intriguing images were developed over many months of trial and error, integration of inspiration, and evolution. Let her guide you through your own discovery and take advantage of her depth of knowledge to inspire and expand your own vision.
Each of the days will find you choosing flowers (visits to several local flower farms), arranging, freezing, and finally photographing your creations. All materials will be provided, (containers, freezer space, distilled water, florist tape, various backgrounds) with the exception of the flowers themselves. The last 1/2 day will be given over to review and discussion of the images created during the course.
Mornings will be spent arranging and preparing the freezing containers, afternoons to developing your images in Lightroom and Photoshop. Throughout the day the arrangements will be checked, water added to them or photographed ‘as is’ and returned to the freezer. This will repeat each day.
Afternoons will be filled with lectures about color and composition, how to develop to bring out the best of your images, using and ipad pro to fully enhance your creation, and investigating the great masters of painting to deepen your knowledge of light, structure, and symbolism. There will also be discussion about how to present your work. Framing choices, printing and paper choices, transparencies, and silver and gold leaf prints will all be topics for discussion with examples of each to share.
Link to Keron’s Edge of Revelation series. The work has been described as transcendent, mysterious, lush and harmonious. It takes you right into the very heart of beauty.
