In this workshop you will create a series of postcards while exploring and experimenting with a variety of mixed media techniques. We will start by creating our own collage papers because to create great mixed media art, you’ll need interesting papers. We will explore a multitude of mixed media techniques and work on recycled cardboard and other substrates as we create our own stamps and mark making tools to experiment with painting, collaging, stenciling, printmaking, masking, drawing and stitching. Your postcard series will be like a little journal, a way to record the colors, shapes, pattern and textures that inspire you. And because it’s a postcard, it loves traveling through the mail so I would encourage you to post at least one or two, even if it is to yourself, you’ll love the added textures as they go through the mail, hopefully in one piece! The tone of this workshop is playful and experimental and is open to all levels, all you need is an open mind to explore and discover new horizons!
