Start with dark – printing an image that captures bold, graphic elements – then add layers of printing to add marks in shades and hue that change the life of the print. Using yard pieces of cloth, we’ll use various printing techniques from monoprints to screen printing (and lots of ways in between) using fiber reactive dye to print fabric that is unique. These prints may be used as the start of a whole cloth quilt, part of an assembled work, or sewn in apparel. We’ll tackle graduated graphics from overall, to blended, to layers of graphic elements. Don’t worry, we’ll start with dark, but move quickly to add line, texture, shape and of course color. Large scale graphics are encouraged as well as underlaying texture, adding line and secondary graphic elements.
