Students will learn the art of creating hand-made stamps with a variety of materials including both carving blocks and found objects. Using specially formulated inks, the stamps will be used to create printed fabric.

In addition to learning how to create printing blocks that produces high-quality results, the class will cover techniques for planning out a design, the art of repeat-pattern printing, using multiple colors in a single stamp, and choosing fabrics that produce the best print. Students will have the option of bringing their own 100% cotton shirt to print on or print a yard of fabric provided by the instructor to take home as yardage.

Instructor Bio
Judy Paolini is a graphic and product designer, fine artist, and art teacher. Her passion for materials and technique exploration is evident in the wide variety of work she had created in both her commercial and personal careers. As an award winning designer her work has reached a global audience, spanning product branding and packaging to furniture and sports equipment design. Her personal work focuses on surface design in fabric, ceramics, metals, and wood as well as furniture design and construction. Her textiles are distributed by Spoonflower and Society6. With a background in teaching at multiple levels, she is always seeking opportunities to share her skills and knowledge through classes and workshops.
