This one-day workshop will introduce you to dyeing wool and other animal fibers using acid dyes. Dyeing your own yarn or fleece allows you to discover a limitless palette. We will space dye and over-dye variegations and gradations on yarn suitable for knitting, spinning, crochet, needlepoint, embroidery, felting, and weaving.

We will cover color mixing, safety concerns, and how to prepare protein (animal) fibers for dyeing. Cotton, linen, rayon, and bamboo will not work. Do not miss this unusual opportunity to create a basket full of radiant yarn, bringing new dimension to your knitting projects. No prior dye experience is necessary.

What’s Included?

* Elin Noble will teach you how to permanently dye wool yarn with acid dyes.

* The following week, Paige Nuzzolillo will teach you how to knit with the yarn to make your own bubble stitch sweater.

Experience Level:

• No prior dye experience is necessary for the dye portion of the class
• Students should have prior experience with the basics of knit/purl stitches and know how to cast on and off
• This is a perfect class for you if this is your first sweater but you’ve had some experience with scarves, hats and smaller projects
