Kath Macaulay, Instructor
Dates: June 18th – 20th, 2021
Perfect for hiking, biking, sitting in a café or standing in line — take it anywhere, whip it out in a minute, preserve a memory in 25 minutes or less and put away with no clean-up. Ideal for Journaling. This workshop is ideal for timid beginners who want to fearlessly paint in public, and perfect for experienced artists who want mobility, minimal equipment and no clean-up.
Supplies: paint set, paper, water soluble pen and water container, manual and pocket knife for paints
Instructor brings several extra things (such as the custom fanny pack), that are a pleasure but not essential!
Using only a 4 x 6 inch art pad, a water soluble pen, a small paint set, a brush and a film canister of water, Pocket Sketching allows anyone to journal and sketch/paint wherever they are
capturing their “feel” of a place rather than simply taking a thousand pictures the way a camera does.
Benefits: Minimal equipment. Totally portable. A quick personal way of recording what’s immediately in front of you. Meditation. No fear of being “watched” because you’re in your personal space. Ease of carrying. Always ready. No clean-up. Easy to learn for absolute beginners and advanced artists. Use anywhere. Capture your impression: the thing that caught your eye in the first place.
Kath Macaulay Bio: As an artist, I enjoy capturing the moment. There is always a reason to paint something that catches the eye and the mind. Most of my paintings are designed to give the viewer a feeling of serenity, and of having visited the same location. As an instructor I delight in teaching my easy, totally portable, no-clean-up technique to beginners and professionals alike. For the beginner it is an open door to art and seeing the world with a new eye. For the advanced artist, it is a totally portable system for 10 to 25 minute sketches when standing in line, hiking, in a café, on horseback, anywhere. The workshops are well organized, fast, loaded with information. Motto: Learn enough to play for a lifetime!
