Plein Air Artists! We want YOU next summer for our second annual Plein Air open event, August 16-19, 2021 on stunning Whidbey Island. For four days, come paint the beaches, forests, townscapes, and vistas that Whidbey affords, with an emphasis on Coupeville. We will then celebrate you and the art you have created by holding a Sale and Reception, Gallery Exhibition and Sale, including awards on August 20th, 2021. Artist Registration is $70. The event is open to all, novice to professional. This event is being co-sponsored by the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce and the Pacific NorthWest Art School and is a fundraiser for both organizations.
The PNWAS will be open each of the four days for artist check-in from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. for having panels authenticated, waivers signed, maps, and other information shared. The school will be the official “rest stop” for water, restrooms and a rest area.
*Artist commission is 65%
**New for 2021 is that artists are free to sell work to the public if approached during any of the paint out days to further boost their sales revenue. We would of course have this on the honor system and do ask that sales are run through the school. This will only boost sales for both the artist and the art school and chamber of commerce.
*There will be a Welcome Artist Barbecue, August 16th, the first night to bring you all together to celebrate you and your art and it will be hosted at the lovely home and garden of Mike Wise, nationally known member of OPA.
*Artists can bring and paint up to six panels to be authenticated (that you painted during the four days.
*Artists will be asked to paint in specific areas each day to draw attention to artists and their work i.e. downtown Coupeville, the nearby Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve, etc. Artists will be furnished with postcards promoting the event to give to potential patrons to attend the Friday evening event to be held at the Coupeville Rec Hall.
*On Friday, after check in and before the Gala we will have some activities planned to help fill your day both educational and fun!
*Artists can paint one, two or all four days and bring their best art on Friday morning to be exhibited and sold.
*There will be a cash awards for Best of Show, First, Second and Third Place.
*Artists will have option to leave their work up for the weekend to maximize sales.
*Lodging information will be provided upon registration
