Art School receives two generous gifts!
This is a tale of two women bonded by their love of the arts, community, and how their generosity has impacted a non-profit art school emerging from the pandemic. This is also the story of how legacy-giving can have a profound impact on an organization. We recently became the recipients of two legacy gifts from a student and supporter, Ellen Marott and Founder, Muriel Pickard, respectively. Together, their gifts will allow the art school to not only survive, but thrive.
Ellen started taking workshops and became an avid supporter of the school back in 2004. Her main focus was fiber arts and she was also a long-time active member of the Whidbey Weavers’ Guild. Muriel was with the school from inception in 1986 and remained involved and supportive up until her passing. The staff and board are deeply indebted to these two lovely women who have made such a difference.
So, if you’ve ever wondered if just one person can have an impact, the resounding answer is yes! We hope if you have the ability to support the arts, you will do so. The Pacific NorthWest Art School is a 35-year-old visual arts education facility offering workshops in the mediums of painting, photography, fiber arts, and mixed media taught by a visiting faculty of nationally and internationally known instructors of renown.
Registration is open!! And officially, so is the Art School! Look for your favorite instructor and topic, invite your friends, we have it all! Choose from over fifty classes.
Our Covid19 cancellation policy will remain in effect through 2021 based on current guidelines and projections. If we cancel, you get a full refund and if you cancel due to Covid19 restrictions, you get a full refund. Thank you all for your understanding and patience during this very challenging and unprecedented time. We look forward to offering you a robust and stellar workshop lineup this season!
As always, we will be adhering to Federal/State and Local Covid policies in 2021.
The Pacific NorthWest Art School will be taking all measures to ensure student and faculty safety including smaller class sizes, ventilation (we have large garage doors in the classrooms we can open), mask-wearing, hand sanitation stations, and will comply with all Federal, State and local Covid recommendations. As of May 24th, we are following Governor Inslee’s proclamation that states in part that mask wearing will be advised for all in “health care settings, correctional institutions, public transportation and schools.” We will attempt to follow the most current guidelines and recommendations and to ensure you all feel safe and comfortable attending workshops with us this summer and fall! Accordingly, we highly recommend you are vaccinated when attending a class. Those who are not vaccinated will be asked to stay masked. Thank you for your cooperation in a challenging time!
Out-of-town students… did you know even though we are located on an island, there are several ways to easily get here? You can fly into SeaTac airport and take a shuttle service to Coupeville, or rent a car and drive here via a short but scenic ferry, or take a stunning and scenic drive over an historic bridge.
