Tsujigahana was an artform so highly prized that it was given as gifts to those one held in most high esteem. We’ll be covering the basics of this inspiring marriage of shibori and hand-painting, relishing the soft and moody blends of colors offered through a range of string-resist techniques, and accented by the crisp lines and delicate shadings hand-painted pigments allow. We’ll be working with natural dyes on silks, cotton, and bast fibers, initially finding inspiration in traditional patterns John has prepared. And if any participants are interested in doing so, and as time allows, John will be happy to guide you in developing your own designs. The materials fee covers all consumables and use of John’s equipment, along with a DVD containing hand outs and a great deal more. For those continuing on to Gold Inspirations, you will have the opportunity to embellish further your artistry with glistening highlights.
